Pool Drain Permit Application

0% completed

The City of Goodyear requires that all pool and spa water discharges be kept on owner's property or discharged to a sanitary sewer clean-out of private property. Allowing water to run on other people's property, public rights-of-way, or open space is illegal (City Code 11-1-16 and 14-5-7). Goodyear water & sewer customers are required to submit a pool drain permit application prior to draining a pool. After you submit the application, you will be notified by 5PM the following business day by email that your permit has been approved or if additional information is required. (Add [email protected] to your contacts to help ensure delivery and/or check your spam folder). This permit is for all City of Goodyear sewer service customers, which includes residents south of I-10 and residents of Sedella and Canada Village. View our Water & Sewer Service Area Lookup to confirm your provider. If you have any questions concerning the permit or draining process, see FAQs, or this informational document. For additional questions, call 623-932-3010, option 3 and ask for Pool Drain Permit personnel. You may wish to seek professional assistance from a qualified individual specializing in pool drainage. To learn how your sewer rate is determined based on water usage during your WQA (Winter Quarter Average), visit our Sewer Appeal Q&A page.

The permit allows you to drain the pool into the sanitary sewer cleanout on your property. (City Code 12A-2-1) All water must be contained on site. No water is permitted in the city streets, alleys, or right of ways. (City Code 11-1-16) The water can be used to irrigate the property as long as the water does not run into the streets or adjacent properties. (City Code 14-5-7) Resident shall monitor the flow to prevent flooding. Resident has read the publication Drain and Backwash Pools Legally. Sewer charges are based on usage billed from January - March. Customers may therefore opt to avoid refilling their pool from approximately December - March, depending on their Cycle. For more information, please visit our Sewer Appeal Q & A page. The Sewer Appeal Request form is active from June 1 to August 31 each year. For helpful tips on minimizing water loss from your pool throughout the year, visit Keeping Pool Water in the Pool. By submitting the application, the Resident acknowledges the provisions of the Pool Drain Permit and agrees to comply with them.
